Renting a Bus with Driver in Egypt: A Guide for Visitors

Visiting Egypt with family or friends, or living here and planning a trip with a group? A vehicle with a driver is often the easiest way to move everyone together: one pickup, one vehicle, and nobody navigating the traffic. This guide covers how hire works, what the price covers, and how to book without the back-and-forth. If you are a tour operator booking for clients, our guide for tour operators goes further.

You hire the whole vehicle, with its driver

Bus rental with driver here means the whole vehicle and the person driving it. There is no self-drive, there are no private cars, and we do not sell single seats. The smallest vehicle is the 14-seat Toyota HiAce. Every vehicle in our own fleet is licensed and has GPS tracking.

You pay for the vehicle, not per head: whether eight of you travel in the HiAce or fourteen, the price is the same.

Pick the size by people and suitcases

Families on holiday rarely travel light, so tell us how many suitcases you have along with how many people, and we tell you before you book whether they will ride inside, on the roof or in a hold.

  • HiAce, 13–14 seats. Your cases travel inside with you and take the space of seats, because there is no hold and usually no roof rack. All 14 seats work only with hand luggage; with full-size cases it carries fewer people than its seats.
  • Coaster, 21–25 seats. The newer shape has 21 seats; the older one reaches 25 by using fold-down seats in the aisle, and we confirm which you get at booking. Your cases go up on the roof rack, held under a net: safe there, but exposed to dust and rain.
  • Midibus, 28–33 seats. The smallest size with a closed luggage hold underneath. If you would rather have your cases locked away than on the roof, book this one even if there are only a few of you.
  • Coach, 38–45 or 49+1 seats. A closed hold underneath. The +1 on the larger coach is the seat for a tour leader or guide, so with nobody in that role, 50 of you can travel. The MCV 600 Family adds an onboard restroom and screens.

Count the children as passengers. Every child has a seat of their own; there are no children on laps.

If you are between two sizes, go for the larger: everyone sits in comfort, and one vehicle with room to spare usually costs less than two small ones. The minibus hire guide looks at the three smaller sizes in more detail.

What the price includes

Included: the vehicle, the driver, fuel, road tolls and parking, and waiting within the agreed hours.

Not included: hours beyond those agreed, changes to the route or timings, and entrance fees. If your day includes museums or monuments, you buy those tickets separately from the transport.

Coming back the same day, another day, or keeping the vehicle

  • Back the same day, with the vehicle waiting for you: the cheapest way to do a round trip.
  • Back on a later day: the vehicle drives back and comes out again to collect you, so you are quoted for two transfers, together in one quote.
  • Keeping the vehicle with you overnight: every night is charged on its own, even if the vehicle just stays parked. If you are back in the same city each night, there is no overnight charge.
  • Trips of more than a day: tell us whether you will cover the driver's room and meals; doing so brings the overnight cost down.

How long is a day?

Your quote states how many hours the day covers, and any time beyond that is charged, so settle the pickup and finish times when you book.

We aim to be early rather than on time: book the vehicle for 9:00 and it is outside at 8:45, with a message to say it has arrived. If your party is running late, the extra time is charged, and you know that before you travel.

What to send for a quote

  1. How many of you, counting the children, and how many suitcases
  2. Where to pick you up and where to drop you, exactly
  3. The date and the time you want to leave
  4. One-way or return
  5. If return: the same day or a later one
  6. For trips of more than a day: who covers the driver's room and meals
  7. If you are arriving by air: the flight number

Send all seven and the quote is right the first time, back to you within the day. Use the quote form or WhatsApp.

Booking and payment

Your booking stands once the deposit is in; agreeing on the phone does not reserve the vehicle. Each quote shows the payment terms and the date it is valid until, and you get an official receipt in the company's name for every payment.

Flying in? Check the airport on your ticket

Send the flight number with the airport exactly as your ticket prints it. Around Cairo there are three different airports, and we pick up at all three: Cairo International (CAI), Sphinx International (SPX), west of Cairo off the Cairo–Alexandria desert road, and Capital International (CCE), east of Cairo, which serves the New Administrative Capital. We plan the pickup around your flight's scheduled time, and we run around the clock, so a late-night or dawn landing is routine. Details are on the airport transfer page.

Sizes, coverage and common questions are on our bus rental with driver page. Planning a sightseeing day? See our Cairo day tour guide for groups. Organising a conference or bringing a delegation? Conference transport covers airport arrivals, the hotel-to-venue shuttle and a written schedule for each day, in any city in Egypt.

Need a coach for your trip?

We rent the whole vehicle with its driver — not tickets or single seats. The smallest we run seats 14.
