Cairo to Hurghada Private Transfer for Groups: Time, Vehicles and Luggage

Cairo to Hurghada is one of the most travelled long routes in Egypt, linking the capital with the Red Sea's best-known resort city. For a family, a tour group or a company trip travelling together, a private vehicle with a driver means one departure time, one vehicle for everyone, and the luggage loaded once.

One thing first: this is private hire. You rent the whole vehicle with its driver, not seats on it, and the smallest vehicle we hire is the 14-seat HiAce. For one or two travellers, a scheduled coach ticket is the better fit.

Distance and drive time

The road distance is about 450 km, and a private vehicle typically takes 5 to 6 hours, depending on stops and traffic. Going direct avoids the intermediate stops of shared transport, which matters most for a large group with luggage. Leave time to spare: a hotel check-in or a flight that depends on arriving to the minute turns a long drive into a tense one.

If your group starts in Mansoura or elsewhere in the Delta rather than Cairo, plan the run to Hurghada as a full travel day.

Choose the vehicle by people and bags

A trip to the Red Sea means suitcases, and the bag count decides the vehicle as much as the headcount does. We ask for both at the start and tell you before booking where the luggage will travel.

  • Toyota HiAce, 13–14 seats. No luggage hold and usually no roof rack, so the bags ride inside with the passengers and take the space of seats. A full 14 travel with hand luggage only; with full-size suitcases it carries fewer people than its seats, so tell us the number of bags and we size the vehicle.
  • Toyota Coaster, 21–25 seats. The newer shape seats 21. The older shape reaches 25 with fold-down seats in the aisle, and we tell you so up front; the exact seat count is confirmed at booking. Bags go on a roof rack under a net: secure, but open to dust and rain.
  • Midibus, 28–33 seats. The first size with an enclosed luggage hold. If you want your bags locked away rather than on the roof, this is the smallest option, even for a small group.
  • Coach, 38–45 or 49+1 seats. Both have an enclosed hold. On the 49+1, the +1 is the tour leader's seat, not the driver's, so it takes up to 50 passengers when no guide travels.

Every child counts as a seat; there are no children on laps. Between two sizes we recommend the larger one: one vehicle with spare seats is more comfortable, and usually cheaper, than two.

One-way, return, or keeping the vehicle

How you come back changes the price, so decide it before you ask for a quote.

  • One-way. The vehicle drops you in Hurghada and goes back.
  • Return on a different day. The vehicle does not wait for days: it goes back and comes again on the return date, so the trip is priced as two separate transfers, sent to you in one quote.
  • The vehicle stays with you. Each night it stays is its own item, even when it is parked. On a multi-day trip we also ask who covers the driver's accommodation and meals; if you provide them, the overnight cost drops.
  • Same-day return. With the vehicle waiting, this is the cheapest kind of round trip, but at 5 to 6 hours each way it makes a very long day on the road.

What the price covers

The price is for the whole vehicle, not per person: within the vehicle's capacity, the headcount does not change it. It covers the vehicle, the driver, fuel, road tolls and parking, and waiting within the agreed hours. It does not cover hours beyond those agreed, changes to the route or timings, or entrance fees to anywhere you stop on the way. The written quote says all of this.

The Hurghada end

In Hurghada and along the Red Sea we work through local partners, and the trip stays under Madar's name and responsibility. If your group flies into Hurghada instead, or needs transfers to hotels in Hurghada, El Gouna or Safaga once it is there, see the Hurghada page.

What to send for a quote

  1. How many people, children included, and how many bags
  2. The exact pickup in Cairo and the hotel in Hurghada
  3. The date and departure time
  4. One-way or return, and if return, the date
  5. If the vehicle stays with you: the number of nights, and who covers the driver's accommodation and meals

Send it through the quote form or on WhatsApp and we reply with a written quote within the day. The booking is confirmed when the deposit arrives, and the payment terms are written in the quote.
